Tumors

Soft tissue tumors can occur in the pediatric hand, just as they occur in the adult hand. Evaluation by a hand surgeon is highly recommended before any attempted treatment (such as needle aspiration) to assess if the tumor is solid, or filled with fluid (a cyst). In-office fluorosccpoy and ultrasound may be utilized to help in this determination. Treatment will vary depending on the location of the tumor, the size, how it is affecting function, and the results of imaging studies like ultrasound.
