Unlike what is suggested by the accompanying photo, pediatric orthopaedics is not orthopaedics practiced by children. Upper extremity conditions in children range from congenital deformities to injuries to tumors of the bone and/or soft tissue. As with most other specialties, the treatment of children differs from the treatment of the same condition in adults. Special consideration needs to be given to the developing skeleton. At times a sub-specialist like Dr. Yu is the best doctor for treatment of a pediatric condition. At other times, a general pediatric orthopaedist is most appropriate. If your child has a condition of the upper extremity and you are unsure of where to go, please call our office at (510) 540-6800, or use the Ask Dr. Yu button on the right.
